    Ontario, Canada – PrintFleet celebrated the culmination of two years of collaboration with Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, to release PrintFleet Remote Tech, a service utility that streamlines device monitoring and management capabilities into a single solution that will significantly improve efficiency and productivity of service delivery for Canon Dealers in North America.

    Remote Tech is a powerful tool developed to deliver key service data collected directly from Canon devices equipped with Canon’s embedded Remote Diagnostic System (eRDS) and Canon’s Remote Maintenance System (imageWARE Remote). The data is then forwarded to a client’s PrintFleet server for compilation and action. Remote Tech’s bi-directional communication functionality enables many service related activities, such as device configuration, remote reboot and MIB writing to be performed remotely.     OM Plus Fleet Manager Software Used in Large California School District

    Plus Technologies is pleased to announce that its partner, GES (Global Environmental Services), has rolled out Plus Technologies’ OM Plus Fleet Manager (FM) software as a part of their managed print services offering. GES and Plus Technologies recently formed a partnership in which GES enhanced their managed print service capabilities by standardizing on the OM Plus Suite of enterprise print software tools.

    Plus Technologies’ printer fleet management software is in use at a large K-12 school district in Southern California. The school district is equipped with approximately 2,200 print devices spread across 50 campuses, which GES is responsible for managing. The devices range from standard desktop printers to enterprise MFPs.

    At regular intervals, OM Plus Fleet Manager software polls each print device in the school district to collect device health, consumables information, and detailed usage metrics. One of the uses for this information is the automation of toner replenishment. OM Plus Fleet Manager monitors toner consumption and alerts a services manager when a replacement cartridge needs to be ordered. In a separate action, OM Plus will also inform the user of the best time to replace toner to achieve the optimal use of the cartridge.

    In addition, OM Plus Fleet Manager software provides the service managers with device metrics such as mono pages printed, color pages printed, copies, scans, and fax usage. This assists the service provider in billing and equipment optimization.

    By identifying printers with technical problems, OM Plus Fleet Manager helps the service provider deploy the correct resource and parts so that repair can happen quickly. In this way, OM Plus Fleet Manager printer fleet management software can reduce costs, improve efficiency, and increase printer fleet uptime.

    OM Plus Fleet Manager is offered in an ASP model where the customer need not deploy the application on site. A small software module called a Device Data Collector (DDC) resides at the customer site collecting printer information. It then transmits this data via the internet to a hosted server elsewhere. Service providers access the customer data over the internet in an easy to use manner via a browser interface.

    Plus Technologies print software is geared toward adding value to the offering of MPS providers. In addition to managing the print fleet, OM Plus software suite also enhances the printing experience. OM Plus Delivery Manager software provides advanced, intelligent print spooling software designed to seamlessly complement enterprise software applications. OM Plus will seamlessly ingest print jobs from multiple application servers and provide superior delivery functionality. OM Plus software allows for end-to-end control by providing confirmation/notification (to the tray), fail-over, load balancing, labels, etc.

    An Interview with Jason Ganis, CEO and Co-founder of Smartprint In a recent interview, Smartprint co-founder and CEO Jason Ganis talked about his perception of the MPS market and why he believes MPSA membership is important to his company and the MPS industry as a whole. Excerpts from that interview follow.



    Why is SmartPrint joining MPSA as a Corporate Member?
    It is important to have an independent organization like the MPSA to report and oversee an industry; a place people can turn to for guidance and information. We know we will learn from the experiences of other members and look forward to sharing our experiences with them. We expect to keep informed of industry news and product releases. We also want to be measured against the market through our membership and to receive independent feedback. In turn, we can provide insight into this region and how MPS in Australia and the U.S. compare, as Smartprint is involved in both markets.

    How do you view the role of MPS in the document industry?
    MPS has become the flagship product for the document industry. Major manufacturers and copier/printer suppliers alike promote, advertise and talk about MPS to retain clients and involve themselves in the battle for market share. According to independent studies, Australia is expected to reach MPS market saturation in 2013 with a forecast of AUS $880 million.

    What are clients looking for in an MPS solution?
    Being vendor-neutral, agnostic and unbiased is important in MPS. You need to walk in and manage any needs from any supplier, as generally this is what larger entities with multiple sites, decentralized buying patterns and no real device management require. We have found that neutrality avoids chaos and disturbance to the client’s business. The client is going to get the best product fit —and mixed brands if required — rather than the only thing that the MPS provider can sell.

    Ontario, Canada. PrintFleet Inc., a global leader in managed print software announced today that its newest version of PrintFleet Enterprise (PFE) software has been released. This is a major release that includes new functionality over PFE 3.0.

    Highlights of the new functionality include automated supplies-fulfillment enhancements, device bulk editing (via CSV import/export), and customization of the model database. A new Supply Detail screen that shows detailed history about a single supply has been well received by our customers; in fact it has been called ‘awesome’.
